SIM Information System - 668
The SIM Information System - 668 is a service in Pakistan that allows mobile users to check the number of SIM cards registered under their Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC). This system, introduced by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), enhances security and prevents unauthorized SIM registrations, reducing the risk of fraud and illegal activities.
How to Use 668?
To check the registered SIMs, users can:
- Via SMS: Send their CNIC number (without dashes) to 668 and receive a reply with details of active SIMs on their name.
- Online Portal: Visit the PTA's official website and enter the CNIC to view the number of registered SIMs per network.
Why is It Important?
- Prevents Identity Theft: Ensures no unauthorized SIMs are linked to your CNIC.
- Enhances Security: Helps in detecting and blocking illegal or unregistered SIMs.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensures users follow PTA regulations regarding SIM ownership.
It is recommended to check your SIM status regularly and report any unrecognized numbers to your respective telecom operator to avoid misuse.
